Goal and Mission of the Writers' House of Georgia:
The Writers' House of Georgia is a state institution whose goal is to promote literature within the country, as well as to increase awareness of Georgian literature abroad and foster cultural exchange between different countries. Through various local and international programs, the Writers' House of Georgia promotes authors, translators, and publishers, conducts educational projects for youth, and presents Georgian literature around the world.
Participation in International Festivals:
The Writers' House of Georgia participates in national and international book fairs and festivals around the world. Among these is the important London Book Fair (2025) and the Paris Book Festival (2024, 2025). In previous years, Georgia took part in the Frankfurt Book Fair, where Georgia was the guest of honor in 2018.
The Writers' House plans to expand its field of operation and prepare for participation in the Sharjah Book Festival and the Japan Art Book Festival in the coming years.
During international book fairs, the Writers' House of Georgia provides funding for authors and publishing houses to participate in the event, thus promoting awareness of Georgian literature abroad. It also gives publishing houses and authors the opportunity to establish new collaborations with foreign colleagues and strengthen the field within the country.
Translation Programs for Foreign Publishing Houses:
One of the main priorities of Writes House of Georgia is the popularization of Georgian literature and culture abroad. The 16th-century literary tradition is the foundation that can ensure a variety of authors and books to offer foreign readers, ranging from classic works to contemporary authors.
For this reason, the Writers' House of Georgia runs special translation program: the program covers up to 70% of publishing and translation costs for foreign publishers who apply and are willing to publish books by Georgian authors.
Through this program, tens of Georgian books are translated into various languages around the world every year.
